Osun Poll: INEC Begins PVC Distribution Ahead Of Election

As the August 15 governorship election approaches, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will commence the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across the state on Wednesday.

A statement issued by the State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Mrs Oluwatoyin Babalola, stated that the exercise is for persons who registered; applied for transfer of registration; requested replacement of lost and damaged PVCs; or updated their records during the recently concluded Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise.

She added that the distribution exercise will begin at the 332 registration areas across the state from Wednesday, July 22, to Tuesday, July 28, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. daily, including weekends.

“The exercise will subsequently continue at INEC Local Government Area offices from Wednesday, July 29, to Friday, August 7, also from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily,” she added.

Babalola reminded voters that PVC collection is strictly personal, stressing that proxy collection is prohibited and constitutes an offence under the law.

She urged all eligible voters to collect their PVCs within the stipulated period, noting that the Permanent Voter Card remains the only valid means of accreditation for voting on election day.

She reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent governorship election in Osun State.
