The Owamiran of Esa-Oke in Esa-Oke, His Royal Majesty, Oba Adeyemi Akanbi Adediran, has passed on, bringing an end to a reign widely regarded for its stability, cultural depth, and developmental strides.
The monarch reportedly joined his ancestors on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, according to a statement issued by the Ijesa Community Development Assembly.
In the statement signed by the Asiwaju of Ijesaland and Chairman of ICDA, Olayinka Fasuyi, the late royal father was described as a symbol of unity and a custodian of tradition whose leadership bridged the gap between heritage and modern governance.
“Kabiyesi was a monarch of quiet strength and thoughtful leadership, whose presence brought stability and reassurance in times of communal challenges,” the statement noted.
The ICDA highlighted Oba Adediran’s enduring contributions to community development, particularly in promoting education, peace, and social cohesion within Ijesaland. His reign was marked by a consistent effort to reinforce the relevance of traditional institutions in a rapidly evolving society.
His passing, the Assembly stated, represents a profound loss not only to Esa-Oke but to the broader Ijesa community, where his counsel and statesmanship were deeply valued.
Condolences have been extended to the royal family, the people of Esa-Oke, the Obokun Local Government Traditional Rulers Council, and the paramount ruler of Ijesaland, as well as indigenes at home and in the diaspora.
The ICDA prayed for strength for all those affected and for the peaceful repose of the monarch’s soul, noting that his legacy of unity, cultural pride, and progressive leadership will endure for generations.
