Tensions are rising with each passing day, political pitches are being tuned to their highest decibels, and battle lines are being drawn across the three senatorial districts.
In the midst of this terrestrial maneuvering, however, there exists a celestial dimension that often eludes the casual observer. For Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, affectionately known by the acronym AMBO, the journey towards August 15, 2026, is not merely a contest of strategy and statistics, but a profound testament to the place of God in the affairs of men.
In fairness to the truth, leadership is often viewed through the lens of the ‘Social Contract’, but for a state as culturally and spiritually grounded as Osun, leadership is a ‘Sacred Trust.’ In view of this, the sociopolitical landscape of the state in 2026 demands a candidate who reflects both professional competence and spiritual depth. AMBO, a seasoned banker and former Commissioner for Finance, represents this rare synthesis.
To begin with, both the Bible and the Holy Quran converge on a single, immutable truth: power belongs to God alone. The Bible declares in Daniel 2:21: “And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding.”
Similarly, the Holy Quran affirms in Surah Al-Imran (3:26): “Say, ‘O Allah, Owner of Sovereignty, You give sovereignty to whom You will and You take sovereignty from whom You will. You honour whom You will and You humble whom You will. In Your hand is [all] good. Indeed, You are over all things competent.”
In the context of the 2026 election, Oyebamiji’s candidacy is not an accident of history but a manifestation of these divine decrees. His rise from the corporate halls of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) to the frontline of Osun politics is a narrative written by the finger of Providence.
The history of leadership is a history of resistance. No man ascends to a throne without facing the “fire of the furnace” or the “den of lions.” What do we mean? The secular and spiritual worlds are replete with figures who faced insurmountable odds, yet triumphed because the hand of God was upon them.
From the pit to the prison and eventually the palace, Joseph’s (Yusuf’s) journey was defined by betrayal and false accusations. His “political enemies” – his own brothers – intended to “decapitate” if not totally “cancel” his dream. Yet, as noted in Genesis 50:20: “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.” In the Koran, the story of Yusuf (AS) serves as a timeless reminder that when God decrees a man’s elevation, the plots of his detractors only serve as the ladder to his destination.
Remember David (Dawud) and remember a shepherd boy who was ignored by his own father when the prophet came to anoint a king. He faced the giant Goliath when the “professional” soldiers of Israel trembled in fear. David’s life proves that when God’s favour is present, the size of the enemy is irrelevant. Psalm 27:2 reminds us: “When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.”
In the secular world, we see the echoes of these spiritual truths. Consider Nelson Mandela, who spent 27 years in prison, or Abraham Lincoln, who suffered countless political defeats and personal tragedies before steering America through its darkest hour. Closer to home, the political trajectory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who survived a “political scorched-earth” policy during his time as Governor of Lagos State, serves as a modern blueprint for resilience. These men triumphed because their vision was aligned with a purpose larger than their person.
As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prepares for the rescheduled date of Saturday, August 15, 2026, the question remains: Why will Oyebamiji rise above his adversaries?
In politics, enemies often attack a man’s character when they cannot match his record. Without doubt, Oyebamiji’s tenure as a two-time Finance Commissioner in Osun State was marked by a clinical transparency that protected the state’s resources during lean years. This record is a spiritual shield. Proverbs 11:3 states: “The integrity of the upright shall guide them; but the perverseness of transgressors shall destroy them.” AMBO’s detractors will find no “hook” in his professional conduct because he has walked with clean hands.
The Holy Koran reminds us in Surah Maryam (19:96): “Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds – the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection.” While his opponents may rely on the “noise” of social media, Oyebamiji has been quietly building “altars” of service in the hearts of the common people. From his home in Ikire to the farthest reaches of the state, his consultations have been about people, not just power. The “affection” of the Osun electorate is AMBO’s secret weapon.
Even the rescheduling of the election to August 15 can be viewed through a spiritual lens. There’s a “time and chance” for every purpose under heaven. This extra window allows for the “sifting” of motives and the strengthening of party unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC). It provides the space for AMBO to consolidate his vision for an Osun that thrives on marine and blue economy initiatives, agricultural reform and industrial growth.
The battle lines drawn by Oyebamiji’s enemies are temporary. The spiritual law of “Sowing and Reaping” ensures that those who seek to subvert the will of the people for selfish gain will ultimately falter. Psalm 7:15 says of the wicked: “He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made.” AMBO’s focus is on the “Osun Project”, while his enemies are focused on the “AMBO Obstacle.” For a fact, the man focused on the goal will always outrun the man focused on the runner.
On August 15, the good people of Osun will go to the polls, not just to choose a politician, but to affirm a divine appointment. Bola Oyebamiji possesses the financial wizardry to heal the state’s economy and the spiritual temperament to unite its people.

Like David, he will fell the Goliaths of opposition with the “smooth stone” of his proven track record.
