A popular shop located around Independence Layout, near Loma Linda Estate in Enugu State, has been gutted by fire in the early hours of the day.
The affected business, known as Blessed Supermarket, was completely destroyed after the fire reportedly started within the shop’s premises before rapidly spreading and consuming goods and property worth millions of naira.
Eyewitnesses said the blaze escalated quickly, leaving little or no opportunity to salvage items inside the store.
Operatives of the Enugu State Fire Service responded promptly after being alerted. Their swift intervention helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings, averting what could have been a larger disaster in the densely populated area.
Although the supermarket was extensively damaged, no casualties were reported at the time of filing this report.
The cause of the fire has not yet been officially confirmed, and investigations are expected to commence.
