
Port Harcourt, Rivers State – Panic erupted on Wednesday morning at the Mini-Okoro/Obio Court axis of Rumuobiokani in Port Harcourt after a trailer reportedly suffered brake failure and rammed into several roadside shops and a commercial tricycle, popularly known as a Keke.
According to eyewitnesses, the trailer was traveling along the busy route when the driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle after its braking system failed. The truck subsequently veered off the road and crashed into nearby shops and a tricycle, causing significant damage to property.
The incident drew a large crowd of residents, traders, and motorists who rushed to the scene shortly after the crash. Some bystanders reportedly assisted in rescuing occupants of the affected tricycle and assessing the extent of the damage.
As of the time of filing this report, the exact number of casualties or injuries had not been officially confirmed. However, eyewitnesses said several people narrowly escaped being hit by the out-of-control trailer.
Security personnel and emergency responders were said to have arrived at the scene to restore order, manage traffic, and begin preliminary investigations into the cause of the accident.
The crash caused temporary traffic congestion along the Mini-Okoro corridor, a major route frequently used by commuters and commercial vehicles within Port Harcourt.
