The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has firmly distanced itself from any political agreements allegedly made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, declaring that such arrangements were personal and not reflective of the party’s official position.
This clarification comes amid a deepening internal crisis that continues to threaten the party’s unity and cohesion.
Speaking on the matter, the PDP’s National Financial Secretary, Daniel Woyengikuro, stated unequivocally that the party had no involvement in any deals attributed to Wike, emphasizing that whatever agreements were made, they were not sanctioned by the PDP.
“What agreements are we talking about? Wike had agreements with his friends, not with the party,” Woyengikuro said. “Those names he mentioned — are they the party? The party was not involved in any agreements he made. We have no knowledge of such agreements.”
Amid growing calls for internal reforms and reconciliation, Woyengikuro stressed the importance of the National Executive Committee (NEC), the party’s highest decision-making body after the national convention, convening to address the festering disputes.
“The NEC will address any issues. This isn’t a physical fight or a man-to-man confrontation. All this unnecessary drama is uncalled for,” he said.
Woyengikuro also dismissed Wike’s recent public statements and accusations, urging Nigerians and party members to rely only on official communications from recognized party organs.
