Habeeb Peller Hamzat, a TikTok star, has been charged with three counts of defying police officers and violating public order by a magistrate in Lagos.
Peller, along with one Bello Oladipo, appeared in court on Monday following an incident that occurred on July 2, 2026, along the Coastal Road in Lekki, Lagos.
The accusations read in court include conspiracy to commit a felony, obstructing police officers in the performance of their duty, and behavior likely to cause a breach of public peace.
The lawsuit originates from a viral video that surfaced last week, depicting Peller in a confrontation with police officers.
In the video, the social media celebrity reported harassment by the authorities, alleging he had been warned for driving a vehicle without a plate number.
Peller stated that he had recently bought the automobile. However, the officers on the scene insisted that he be brought into custody.
The TikToker further said that one of the officers yanked his shirt and held a revolver at his head.
According to the charge sheet, the defendants are accused of blocking four police officers while they were performing their legitimate responsibilities.
They are also accused of intimidating and recording the officers while they were performing their duties.
The defendants were also charged with unlawfully acting in a way that was likely to disrupt public order.
“That you Bello Oladipo” m “and Habeeb Hamzat” m “of No. 16, Platinum Road Lekki phase 2, on the 2″ day of July 2026 at about 2000hrs at Coastal Road Lekki, Lagos within the Magisterial district of this Honourable Court, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Resisting public officers and thereby committed an offense punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state 2015,” the charge states.
“That you Bello Oladipo “m” and Habeeb Hamzat “m” of Number 16, Platinum Road, Lekki Phase 2, on the 2′” day of July 2026 at about 2000hrs at Coastal Road Lekki, Lagos within the Magisterial district of this Honourable court did obstruct one ASP Agbede Victor and three other police officers while engaged in the discharge of their constituted duties and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable by Section 117 (1) (2) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
On July 2, 2026, Bello Oladipo “m” and Habeeb Hamzat “m” of Number 16, Platinum Road, Lekki Phase 2 violated public order by threatening and videoing police officers while performing their duties. This is punishable under Section 168 (a) & (d) of the Criminal Code.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty on all three counts. The magistrate gave them bail for N500,000 apiece, with two sureties. The court required that one of the sureties be blood-related.
Sureties are also required to submit tax clearance certificates from the previous two years. A police source confirmed the arraignment on Tuesday, but could not immediately confirm the bail conditions or court location.
