The Imo State Police Command says it has intensified investigations into the gruesome murder of a female student of the College of Nursing, Umulogho, in Obowo Local Government Area of the state.
The deceased, identified as Wendy Achumba, had reportedly completed her Midwifery programme and was undergoing her post-basic studies before she was allegedly killed in her private off-campus apartment by yet-to-be identified assailants.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, said operatives of the command visited the scene following a distress report, carried out an on-the-spot assessment, and evacuated the body to the mortuary.

The police spokesperson disclosed that one suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident, while investigations have been intensified to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.
The command appealed to students and members of the public to remain calm, assuring that the situation is under control and reaffirming its commitment to ensuring that all those involved in the crime are brought to justice.
