Police Rescue Kidnapped Sister of Ex-Minister Adelabu, Twin Sons

Mrs. Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, and her 12-year-old twin sons, who were abducted by gunmen in Ibadan earlier this week, have regained their freedom.

A senior police source confirmed the development to journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Saturday night, stating that the victims were successfully rescued.

Mrs. John-Paul and her twin children were kidnapped on June at about 7:30 a.m. while on their way to school. The incident occurred at Elewura-Challenge in the Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of the state.

According to reports, the armed attackers trailed the vehicle conveying the victims from their residence before intercepting and abducting them at the scene.

Police sources disclosed that sustained intelligence gathering, tracking operations and tactical pressure mounted on the kidnappers by security operatives led to a confrontation, which ultimately resulted in the successful rescue of the victims.

The abduction had generated widespread concern among residents and prompted intensified efforts by security agencies to secure the release of the victims.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to provide further details regarding the rescue operation or whether any suspects had been arrested.
