DP World is planning to develop a new port and container terminal on the UAE’s east coast to reduce reliance on Dubai’s Jebel Ali Port and provide an alternative route outside the Strait of Hormuz, according to the Financial Times. The project would expand existing facilities in Fujairah and could be completed within 18 months. It follows a sharp drop in activity at Jebel Ali after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz.
