Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has officially resigned from his position, effective April 30, 2026, to focus on his gubernatorial ambition in Oyo State on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), news.ng reports.
According to a source familiar with the development, Adelabu’s resignation letter, dated April 22, 2026, was received by the presidency.
According to the letter, the minister cited his desire to focus on his gubernatorial ambition, which dates back to 2016.
The outgoing minister noted that his service as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and his subsequent resignation from that role in 2018 were geared towards his ambition.
He thanked Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the opportunity to serve as the Honourable Minister of Power since his appointment in 2023.
