Prince Harry, music icon Elton John and five other high-profile claimants could be forced to pay millions of pounds in legal costs after losing their case against the publisher of the Daily Mail.
The claimants had accused Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), publisher of the Daily Mail, of unlawful information gathering and invasions of privacy.
The court, however, ruled against them, leaving the group facing what has been described as an “eye-watering legal bill” that could run into millions of pounds.
The case centred on allegations of “unlawful information gathering and invasions of privacy,” but the claims were dismissed, handing a significant legal victory to the newspaper publisher.
The ruling means the seven claimants may now have to cover substantial legal costs out of their own pockets.
