Iroye Samuel, a lawyer and professor of strategic studies, has said that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has performed well, adding that his campaign promises are evident, News.ng reports.
Prof. Samuel, in an interview on Arise Television on Friday, stated that President Tinubu and his team began implementing their campaign promises immediately after assuming office, starting with the removal of the fuel subsidy.
He said: “President Bola Amed Tinubu and his administration have transformed their intentions from just saying to practical reality. And I’m going to start from practical thing about things he has done. Immediately he came into the government, they went straight for things they wanted to do.
“First and foremost, on the lead, foreign subsidy must be removed. It was difficult for the people. I’m a Nigerian also.”
According to him, the money that would have been spent on the subsidy was redirected into the country’s economy, including increasing workers’ salaries.
He added that the administration has also been able to increase the country’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
He noted that many of President Tinubu’s achievements were outlined in his manifesto before he came to power.
“It was difficult for me. But the reality is that the impact of that foreign subsidy is what all of us are enjoying now. It’s coming to bear with us.
“The government is not spending a lot of trillions of Naira for nothing again. Some of those money have been diverted into other aspects of economy, like salary increase, like exporting. Our IGR has increased tremendously.
“That’s under the economy. And that is synonymous with the manifesto of Asiwaju Bola Amed Tinubu before he came to power,” he added.
