Qatar Post has launched a new international money transfer service allowing customers to send funds to five countries, including Egypt and Morocco, as it expands its financial services offerings.
The new service enables transfers to Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Djibouti and Serbia, providing residents and citizens in Qatar with an additional channel for sending money abroad.
According to Qatar Post, transfers can be completed in no more than two hours, with recipients able to collect funds from any post office in the destination country.
The state-owned postal operator said the service is among the lowest-cost international money transfer options available in Qatar and offers a secure method of sending funds through approved postal networks. Customers can also send money in local currencies from any Qatar Post branch.
The launch comes as Qatar’s remittance market becomes increasingly competitive, with banks, exchange houses and digital platforms all seeking to attract customers. Qatar Post said its nationwide branch network and postal infrastructure would help broaden access to financial services.
The service is expected to be particularly useful for expatriate workers and families who rely on regular remittances, especially in destinations where banking networks are less extensive or traditional financial services are less accessible.
Qatar Post said the initiative forms part of a broader trend of postal operators expanding beyond mail and parcel services to offer financial products, including international money transfers aimed at improving financial inclusion.
The company indicated that the service could be expanded to additional countries in the future if the initial rollout proves successful.
