Raphinha has officially been handed Brazil’s iconic No. 10 shirt, with the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirming the decision on Thursday as the national team begins a new era following Neymar Jr.’s international retirement.
The Barcelona winger will wear the famous number during Brazil’s upcoming friendly matches against Australia and India.
The CBF released the complete squad numbers ahead of Friday’s fixture against Australia in Townsville. The match will be Brazil’s first since their Round-of-16 elimination from the 2026 World Cup.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also confirmed the development on X on Friday, posting, “OFFICIAL: Raphinha, Brazil’s new number 10 after Neymar Jr’s international retirement.”
Endrick has taken the No. 9 shirt previously worn by Matheus Cunha, while Estêvão has been given No. 11 and Vinícius Júnior will continue wearing No. 7.
Goalkeeper Hugo Souza has been assigned the No. 1 shirt.
Neymar, Brazil’s all-time leading goalscorer with 80 goals in 130 appearances, retired from international football following the World Cup.
The 34-year-old had worn Brazil’s No. 10 shirt at four World Cups before announcing his decision in late July, saying his time with the national team had come to an end.
Raphinha had previously worn the No. 10 during Neymar’s absences, including in Brazil’s World Cup qualifying campaign.
However, following Neymar’s retirement, the iconic number now becomes the permanent responsibility of a new generation of the Seleção.
The No. 10 shirt holds a special place in Brazilian football history and has been worn by several of the country’s greatest players, including Pelé, Zico, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaká and Neymar.
Raphinha now joins that distinguished list as Brazil enters a new era under head coach Carlo Ancelotti.
His first match as Brazil’s official No. 10 will come against Australia in Townsville, as the Seleção begin the next chapter of their international journey.
