REALS Pharmaceutical Limited has marked its 30th anniversary with renewed commitments to quality healthcare delivery, product innovation, and expanded community support programmes, unveiling a new fast-acting relief product, Dr. Fizzo, as part of activities commemorating the milestone.
The colourful celebration, held at Victoria Garden Event Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, attracted healthcare professionals, industry stakeholders, partners and business associates, who commended the company’s three-decade contribution to Nigeria’s pharmaceutical sector.
A major highlight of the event was the official launch of Dr. Fizzo, described by the company as a fast-acting and long-lasting relief medication, designed to improve access to effective treatment options for common health conditions.
Beyond product innovation, the company also rolled out empowerment initiatives targeted at petty traders, with several beneficiaries receiving ₦150,000 each to strengthen their businesses and improve livelihoods.
The firm also announced an expansion of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, with increased focus on schools and community-based interventions.
Speaking at the event, the Group Managing Director of REALS Pharmaceutical, Pharm. Adesanmi Popoola, said the company’s survival and growth over 30 years had been sustained by resilience, faith, and strategic partnerships.
He recalled the firm’s humble beginning in January 1996 with about nine staff members, including medical representatives and administrative personnel, noting that one of the early employees now serves as Director of Sales and Marketing.
“The journey started over 30 years ago on the desk of my brother and friend, Femi Soremekun, who gave me a seat after I was asked to leave my last paid employment without notice,” Popoola said, adding that the company had experienced both “boom and scarcity, ups and downs” but remained standing through the years.
He expressed appreciation to the founding Chairman, Akogun Olanrewaju Adesuyi, the Board of Directors led by Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, shareholders, partners, staff, and his wife, Deaconess Foluke Popoola, for their support over the years.
The Chairman of the Board, Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, in his remarks, described REALS Pharmaceutical as a major contributor to Nigeria’s healthcare ecosystem, particularly in the provision of reliable and standard medications.
He said the company had played a key role in shifting consumer confidence towards regulated pharmaceutical products, adding that its growth reflected the commitment of stakeholders to quality and innovation.
“The firm has become one of the major players in the pharmaceutical industry, and this achievement is due to the dedication of all stakeholders,” he said, assuring that the company would continue to prioritise affordability, innovation, integrity, passion, and customer focus.
Goodwill messages also came from industry partners, including the Managing Director of Halewood, Mr. Krustin Chanturvedi, who commended REALS Pharmaceutical for three decades of consistency in quality healthcare delivery and customer satisfaction.
Prince Julius Adelusi Adeloye also praised the leadership qualities of Pharm. Popoola, describing him as a man of integrity whose dedication had sustained the company through challenging periods.
The company’s management expressed appreciation to customers, healthcare practitioners, distributors, and employees, noting that their contributions had been central to its growth trajectory over the past 30 years.
They reaffirmed REALS Pharmaceutical’s commitment to advancing healthcare delivery in Nigeria through innovation, improved access to medicines, and sustained investment in community development initiatives.
The anniversary celebration underscored the company’s evolution from a modest pharmaceutical outfit into a notable industry player, while setting a forward-looking agenda anchored on innovation, service delivery, and social impact.
