For years, residents of GRA-1 CDA, Ikorodu, have lived with inadequate street lighting, leaving several parts of the estate in partial darkness after sunset.
Today, that story is changing.
The GRA-1 CDA Executive Committee, Elders and residents express their sincere appreciation to Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru for his support in facilitating the installation of 50 industrial solar street lights across the estate.
For a community that has experienced inadequate street lighting for years, this represents a major milestone, bringing improved illumination, better visibility and a greater sense of security at night.
As the immediate past Chairman of GRA-1 CDA, I am particularly pleased to see the support requested during my tenure translate into a tangible intervention that is now benefiting the entire community.
The intervention is particularly significant considering the strategic location of GRA-1 CDA. Senator Abiru’s campaign secretariat is located within the estate, which also houses the Ikorodu INEC Office and borders the Ikorodu General Hospital.
The impact of the project therefore extends beyond individual homes. It will benefit residents, visitors, commuters and members of the public who access these important institutions and facilities, particularly during the evening and night hours.
The installation of the solar street lights is not merely an infrastructure intervention; it is a meaningful response to a longstanding community need. Improved lighting contributes to safer movement, greater visibility and a more secure environment for everyone within and around the estate.
