Rite Foods, JAMB Launch ₦35 Million Academic Excellence Awards for Nigeria’s Brightest Undergraduates

In a significant effort to promote academic excellence and recognize outstanding achievement, Rite Foods Limited has partnered with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) to launch a ₦35 million scholarship initiative for Nigeria’s top-performing undergraduates.

The initiative, titled the Academic Excellence Recognition Award, will see seven exceptional students each receive ₦5 million in recognition of their remarkable performance during the 2025 admission cycle.

According to JAMB’s Public Communication Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the beneficiaries emerged through a rigorous, transparent, and merit-based selection process. The awardees distinguished themselves through exceptional scores in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), as well as outstanding performances in their respective Post-UTME and institutional screening exercises.

“The seven beneficiaries will each receive ₦5 million in recognition of their exceptional academic performance. This partnership with Rite Foods reflects our shared commitment to rewarding merit, promoting academic excellence, and inspiring young Nigerians to pursue excellence in their educational journey,” Benjamin stated.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, June 30, in Lagos, and is expected to attract key stakeholders from Nigeria’s education and corporate sectors.

Speaking on behalf of Rite Foods Limited, the company’s Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Ekuma Eze, underscored the organization’s commitment to youth development and nation-building through education.

“At Rite Foods, we believe excellence should be celebrated and encouraged. Through this partnership with JAMB, we are proud to reward these exceptional students and reinforce the message that hard work, discipline, and excellence will always be recognised. Beyond producing quality brands, we are committed to creating opportunities that inspire young Nigerians to achieve their full potential,” he said.

The selection framework reflects national inclusivity, with beneficiaries drawn from Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones. A seventh award category has been reserved for the highest-performing admitted candidate living with a disability, underscoring the initiative’s commitment to equity, inclusion, and national development.

The event will bring together high-level dignitaries, including the Minister of Education, the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, vice-chancellors, heads of regulatory bodies, corporate executives, and members of the media.

Observers say the initiative signals a growing trend of private-sector investment in education, particularly at a time when calls for merit-based recognition and youth empowerment are gaining momentum across Nigeria.

As the maiden edition unfolds, expectations are high that the partnership between Rite Foods and JAMB will not only reward excellence but also establish a new benchmark for corporate-backed educational incentives in the country.
