Actor and Nobu Hospitality co-founder Robert De Niro has unveiled the first Nobu Residences project in Egypt as part of the luxury brand’s expansion into one of its fastest-growing markets.
The residences will form part of the wider Nobu hospitality development at OGAMI on Egypt’s Mediterranean North Coast, a 440-acre master-planned community being developed by Egyptian real estate company SODIC in Ras El Hekma.
The project was presented during an event at Nobu Hotel London Portman Square attended by De Niro, fellow co-founder Meir Teper, Nobu Hospitality Chief Executive Trevor Horwell and SODIC General Manager Ayman Amer.
The North Coast development will include a Nobu hotel, residences and restaurants, expanding the Japanese-inspired luxury brand’s presence in Egypt.
The launch comes as Nobu accelerates its expansion across the country. The company said Nobu New Cairo is set to open this week in Eastown District, New Cairo, while a separate Nobu hotel-and-residences project is planned for New Zayed in West Cairo.
Together, the three developments are expected to include hotels, residences and restaurants aimed at Egypt’s growing luxury tourism and real estate markets.
“We’re excited to be bringing Nobu to Egypt in such a meaningful way,” Nobu founders Nobu Matsuhisa, Robert De Niro and Meir Teper said in a joint statement.
“Egypt has incredible history, culture and energy, and we’re grateful to be working with SODIC to create places where food, design and hospitality come together in a way that feels truly Nobu.”
SODIC General Manager Ayman Amer said the partnership reflected growing international interest in Egypt’s tourism and property sectors.
“Our collaboration with Nobu brings together two brands that share a commitment to quality, elevated experiences and long-term value creation,” Amer said. “Through OGAMI and our wider developments, we are creating destinations that place Egypt firmly on the map for a new generation of global travellers, investors and homeowners.”
The announcement comes amid increasing investment in Egypt’s North Coast. It follows the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, which developers say has boosted international interest in the country’s tourism and hospitality sectors.
