Ukrainian Armed Forces recently carried out their first-ever ballistic missile strike targeting Moscow.
Russia’s S-400 long-range air defence system successfully intercepted the missile at high altitude.
According to Analyst, the weapon was likely Ukraine’s new FP-9 ballistic missile with range up to ~850 km which is part of its growing domestic missile program supported by Western aid.
The attack used a high ballistic trajectory, unlike lower-flying drones or cruise missiles.
Russia has been expanding a new ring of S-400 positions around Moscow to counter such threats.
though mass drone attacks remain a bigger challenge for Russian defences.
This marks a significant step in Ukraine’s long-range strike capabilities and tests Russia’s air defences around its capital.
