According to family members, the boy had visited the grave together with his siblings on January 25, 2026, to remember their late mother, who passed away suddenly last year.
The children’s aunt, Monica Agustino, confirmed that the woman died after collapsing at home while hanging laundry. Doctors later explained that the cause of death was related to hypertension.
Monica, who currently lives with and cares for the children, revealed that the visit to the grave was purely emotional.
The children said they missed their mother deeply and wanted to feel close to her.
During the visit, the young boy lay on the grave, overwhelmed by emotion, as his siblings stood nearby.
Photos taken at the scene later circulated online, touching many people and drawing mixed reactions.
Speaking to the media, Monica described the tragic moment of her sister’s death.
She explained that while hanging clothes, the last item being a mosquito net, the woman suddenly staggered, collapsed, began wheezing, and foamed at the mouth.
She was rushed to Shamba Kawe Hospital, where doctors confirmed she had died shortly after arrival.
The viral images sparked an outpouring of sympathy from netizens across Tanzania and beyond.
Many expressed heartbreak, offering prayers, condolences, and messages of comfort for the children.
Others, however, questioned the ethics of photographing and sharing such a sensitive moment, arguing that the children needed counseling, privacy, and emotional support rather than public exposure.
