The entire Scottish leadership of Your Party has resigned, just two months after its founding conference in Dundee, in a move that exposes deep internal divisions within the newly formed “alternative left” party.
The Interim Scottish Executive Committee (ISEC), made up of 12 volunteers, accused the UK leadership of a “dismissive attitude” towards Scotland and “constant contempt” for members north of the border.
In a joint statement, the group said the party had ignored Scotland’s elected representatives, blocked the Scottish branch from standing in national elections, and pushed plans to impose an unelected leadership to “re-examine” decisions already made by members.
“As a result of this consistent denial of autonomy for Scotland… we have taken the collective decision to resign our positions,” the ISEC said.
The former members also confirmed they intend to form a new left-wing party, describing the developments as “fatal blows” to the Your Party project.
The row highlights broader tensions within a party that had positioned itself as a democratic alternative, but is now facing accusations of centralised control and sidelining regional voices.
The ISEC pointed to what it described as “the most egregious example” of interference, when the UK leadership blocked the Scottish branch from contesting the Holyrood elections.
Niall Christie, Scotland’s representative on the party’s Central Executive Committee, also resigned with immediate effect, saying “it has become clear the party has run out of road”.
In response, the UK leadership said it had begun setting up a Scottish Nations Working Group through sortition, adding that it remained committed to building “fair and workable structures” for members in Scotland.
Your Party, founded in 2025, initially drew support from across the UK, including members of the Scottish Greens, but has since been hit by internal disputes that now threaten its future.
