Senator Abdul Ningi has criticised the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the continued attacks and killings of Nigerians in South Africa, urging the Federal Government to take a firmer stance against the recurring incidents.
Speaking during a Senate debate on the recent deaths of two Nigerians in South Africa, Ningi called on the Federal Government to suspend diplomatic ties with the country, arguing that Nigeria must send a strong message that the repeated attacks, hatred and killings of its citizens will no longer be tolerated.
The lawmaker said Nigeria has continued to show restraint despite repeated incidents involving its citizens, stressing that stronger diplomatic measures may be necessary if South African authorities fail to ensure justice and adequate protection for Nigerians living in the country.
His comments come as the Senate also resolved to push for a fresh investigation into the recent killings of Nigerians in South Africa and warned that diplomatic action remains an option if the attacks persist.
