GAUTENG, South Africa – June 27, 2026 – A Gauteng high school has launched a full disciplinary investigation after two of its most senior student leaders the Senior Prefect (male) and Deputy Senior Prefect (female) were discovered in a compromising situation inside a school restroom during academic hours, sources confirmed on Saturday.

According to multiple informed sources, the two prefects were interrupted by a staff member who entered the facility and found them in an intimate encounter. Neither student was reported to have been coerced, and no criminal complaint has been filed at this stage. These learners occupied the two most senior student portfolios. Their actions have undermined the authority of the prefect system and caused considerable distress within the school community.
The school principal has confirmed that both students have been temporarily relieved of their prefect duties pending the outcome of a formal disciplinary hearing, which is expected to take place early next week. The proceedings will be conducted in accordance with the South African Schools Act (No. 84 of 1996) and the school’s ratified code of conduct.
