What was meant to be a joyful Children’s Day celebration in Edo State reportedly turned into a terrifying scene after chaos suddenly erupted at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
According to reports making rounds online, more than 30 schoolchildren were allegedly rushed to the hospital after a policeman reportedly discharged tear gas during an altercation at the event, causing massive panic among pupils and spectators.
Eyewitnesses claimed the situation quickly got out of control as frightened children began running in different directions while struggling to breathe.
