A wave of panic and confusion swept through Kanuyi Community in Simawa, Ogun State, after a viral video and photos showed what many believed to be the arrest of suspected kidnappers — but authorities have now clarified a very different story behind the incident.
According to an official statement from the Ogun State Police Command, the situation began on June 1, 2026, at about 11:00 a.m., when the Simawa Division received reports that two individuals had been apprehended by residents on suspicion of criminal activity.
