Singer Brymo has opened up about his past relationships, revealing that he was involved with several older married women during the early years of his music career.
Speaking on the NOTJUSTOK podcast, Brymo said the experiences happened when he was enjoying the success of one of his breakout songs and was receiving a lot of attention.
“I met quite a number of older women who were truly married. They would tell me they were separated from their husbands.”
The singer recalled one incident that left a lasting impression on him. According to Brymo, one of the women invited him to perform at her sister’s wedding before asking him to also entertain guests at her family house later that night.
He said he initially agreed until she informed him that her husband would also be present. “She said, ‘Our baba will be there.’ I thought she meant her father, but she said, ‘No, my husband.’”
Brymo said the revelation immediately made him uncomfortable, adding that he felt performing in front of a man whose wife he had been involved with could expose him to danger.
“As far as I’m concerned, me going there to perform that night is me opening myself up for some crazy ritual. I just couldn’t take it, so I had to get out.”
Reflecting on the experience, Brymo said it later reminded him of an encounter he had with 2Baba in 2019.
“As at 2019, I remember that moment in Naomi’s office in Lekki Phase 1 when 2Face looked me square in the eye and asked Annie, ‘You don f¥ck Brymo?’ I will never forget it.”
Brymo said the question has remained with him ever since, describing it as a moment he has never been able to erase from his memory.
