Sir Adebutu: My Contributions To LSSTF Not Mere Philanthropy But Sacred Obligation to God

MICHAEL AKINOLA

Billionaire philanthropist and donor of the new Lagos State Security Trust Fund headquarters, Sir Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu, on Friday said his contribution to the project is not mere philanthropy, but a sacred obligation of gratitude to Almighty God.

Sir Adebutu stated this at the historic commissioning of the magnificent LSSTF office building in Ikeja, Lagos.

“I give thanks to the good Lord, much as I have immense pleasure and profound sense of fulfillment in congratulating the Lagos State government, Lagos State Security Trust Fund, its board of trustees, and management on the historic commissioning of this magnificent edifice,” he said.

According to him, the landmark building represents far more than bricks and mortar.

“This landmark building represents far more than bricks and mortar. It stands as an enduring testament to our collective commitment to safeguarding lives and property, preserving peace, and creating an enabling environment for economic growth and sustainable development,” Adebutu stated.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu had inaugurated the new LSSTF permanent headquarters.

Since 2007, the Fund has operated out of a rented space.

According to the Governor, having the building, completed just ten months after the groundbreaking, gives his team a proper coordination centre to support security agencies across the state, respond faster and manage resources better.

“This project was made possible by the generosity of Sir Adebukunola Adebutu Kessington, who fully funded the building and donated five patrol vehicles. I am deeply grateful for his continued support of Lagos State.

“A building is only as good as the results it produces. Security is the bedrock of everything we do in Lagos, our people must feel safe and businesses must thrive. I charge all our security formations to use this facility to strengthen their operations, respect citizens’ rights and keep Lagos safe for everyone,” the Governor said.

The billionaire donor however said it has always been his abiding conviction that God’s blessings are not meant for exclusive enjoyment.

“It has always been my abiding conviction that God’s blessings are not meant for our exclusive enjoyment, but should be the tool to work the service of humanity and leave society better than we met it,” he said.

“I, therefore, regard my modest contribution to this project not merely as philanthropic, but the sacred obligation of gratitude to Almighty God,” he added.

Sir Adebutu prayed that the edifice will stand as an enduring monument to purposeful public-private partnership, selfless service and responsible citizenship.

“May this magnificent edifice stand as an enduring monument to foster purposeful public-private partnership, selfless service, and responsible citizenship,” he prayed.

He further prayed for Lagos State: “May Almighty God continue to bless Lagos State, protect its inhabitants, and grant our leaders the wisdom and foresight to sustain the peace, growth, and prosperity.”

He congratulated all stakeholders who brought the project to fruition, saying he considers himself specially blessed to have contributed his humble quota to a worthy legacy.

“Once again, I congratulate stakeholders who have brought this enviable project to fruition. I consider myself specially blessed to have contributed my humble quota to a worthy legacy that posterity will remember for good. To Almighty God be all the glory. Thank you,” Adebutu said.
