Stop Bola-Ebola joke, where's our N10b – Atiku tackles Tinubu govt

This is contained in a statement by his senior media aide, Phrank Shuaibu, on Friday.

Atiku said while the Presidency and the APC were busy comparing Bola to Ebola, they failed to tell Nigerians where the N10 billion emergency fund was.

He was reacting to a statement by presidential spokesman, Dele Alake and the APC, which attacked him for raising alarm over the Ebola outbreak in Abuja.

“Through Dele Alake and the APC, they have made a remarkable discovery: Bola sounds like Ebola. We had not noticed.

“They found the rhyme and wrote a lengthy press statement about it and somehow still could not tell Nigerians where the N10 billion ordered released for Ebola preparedness is,” Atiku said.

The presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, said the effect of Tinubu’s policies is as deadly as Ebola, adding that the policies have made food and medicine unaffordable and killed businesses.

He said on June 9, the Presidency announced that President Tinubu ordered the immediate release of N10 billion for Ebola emergency preparedness. But now that a case has been confirmed in Abuja, the APC is saying the money remains untouched.

“Was the money released or was it not? If it was released, where is it held, who controls it, and why has it not been used? If it was never released, why was an order for its immediate release announced in June? Publish the release documents,” Atiku demanded.

He also queried the timeline of the government’s response to the confirmed case.

Atiku cited the World Health Organization report that the patient developed symptoms on October 7, sought care on October 11 and got confirmation on October 20.

“When was Ebola first suspected? When were public health authorities alerted? When was testing ordered? When did contact tracing begin?” he asked.

Atiku said the 44 contacts identified are people whose health must be protected and not a trophy for an APC press release.

He also warned that the health emergency must not be used to interfere with campaigning or voting ahead of 2027.

“Show Nigerians where the money is. Explain the response timeline. Protect health workers. Trace every contact. President Tinubu and the APC owe the country answers, not Bola-Ebola tales,” Atiku said.
