A Vehicle Inspection Officer (VIO) has been crushed to death by a truck opposite Mega Primary School along Hospital Road in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The fatal incident occurred on Friday, October 9, after the officer reportedly attempted to intercept the moving truck for inspection.
According to eyewitness accounts, the truck was already travelling in the fast lane when the officer stepped in front of it in an attempt to make the driver stop. However, the vehicle could not stop in time, leaving the officer trapped beneath it.
