United States President Donald Trump says the strike on Iran was just a love tap, insisting that ceasefire talk was still in place.
Trump said this in a post on his Truth Social, allaying fears of the collapse of the truce between the two countries after Tehran and Washington launched attacks on non-allied vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
DAILY POST recalls that the US Central Command, CENTCOM, on Thursday described Iran’s attacks as unprovoked, stating that it does not seek escalation but remains positioned and ready to protect American forces.
The strikes came as Iran and the US were working with mediators to formulate a one-page framework to restart negotiations aimed at ending the conflict, with talks potentially beginning next week in Pakistan.
“It was just a love tap. The truce with Tehran was still holding. The ceasefire is going. It’s in effect,”he said.
Meanwhile, earlier on Thursday, the US president threatened to strike Iran a lot more violently if leaders do not accede to a proposal to end the war.
