Super Falcon’s Toni Payne completes Inter Milan switch after Everton exit

Super Falcons midfielder Toni Payne has joined Italian Serie A Femminile side Inter Milan on a free transfer after leaving Women’s Super League club Everton.

Inter confirmed the signing on Saturday, announcing that the Nigeria international has signed a two-year contract that will keep her at the club until June 2028.

The 31-year-old arrives in Italy after spending two seasons at Everton, where she made 50 appearances following her move from Spanish club Sevilla in 2024.

Speaking after completing the transfer, Payne said she is excited to begin a new chapter in her career with one of Italy’s biggest clubs.

“I’m really excited to be signing for Inter. There’s so much history at the club, and I’m really happy to be a part of it.

“It means so much to me. I’m in a different phase of my career. I’m really excited to be joining such a competitive league and a competitive team that are striving for great things.”

The midfielder started her European career with Ajax before joining Sevilla in 2018.

She spent six seasons in Spain, making more than 180 appearances and scoring 30 goals before moving to Everton, where she established herself as a regular in the Women’s Super League.

Super Falcons star targets success with Inter

Payne switched her international allegiance from the United States to Nigeria in 2021 and has since become an important player for the Super Falcons.

She has represented Nigeria at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Olympic Games, and is also part of the squad preparing for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.
