The Ogun State Police Command has successfully rescued five individuals abducted by suspected kidnappers along the J3 axis of the Ijebu Ode–Ore Expressway, in a swift operation that underscores growing concerns over security on major highways.
The rescue comes barely 24 hours after a disturbing video went viral on social media, showing frantic members of the public raising alarm over the incident and calling for immediate intervention from security agencies.
Recounting their ordeal, the victims—who spoke in English, Yoruba, and Igbo—expressed deep gratitude to the police, describing the operation as both timely and courageous. According to them, their captors had already initiated ransom negotiations with their families, demanding between ₦50 million and ₦70 million before security operatives intervened.
Police authorities confirmed that operations are still ongoing in the area, with intensified efforts to track down and apprehend other members of the kidnapping syndicate.
At the time of filing this report, suspected criminals were being paraded in Iperu, with top security officials present, including the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, and his Lagos State counterpart, CP Tijani Olaiwola Fatai.
The successful rescue has drawn commendation from residents and commuters, many of whom praised the rapid response of security agencies while urging sustained vigilance to curb rising incidents along the busy expressway corridor.
