The County Assembly of Kakamega has paid an emotional tribute to its employee, Charles Mulama, who tragically lost his life alongside his wife, Prisca Andeso, in a fatal electric shock incident.

Mulama and his wife died at their home in Ematsayi, Butsotso South Ward, Lurambi Sub-County, after a tragic accident that shocked family members, colleagues, and residents. The couple is scheduled to be laid to rest together on Saturday, June 20, 2026.
During a special tribute session at the County Assembly precincts, Speaker Hon. James Namatsi led Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) and staff in honouring Mulama’s life and service.
Namatsi described the late staff member as a dedicated and disciplined employee whose contributions helped transform the Assembly’s Human Resource and Administrative Services Directorate.
“Mulama was a jovial young man, highly disciplined and committed to his work. He was always punctual and maintained positive relationships with everyone around him. He was also an effective team player who could mobilise colleagues for assignments,” said the Speaker.

The Assembly leadership noted that Mulama’s professionalism and commitment left a lasting impact on the institution, earning him respect among colleagues and leaders alike.
Clerk of the Assembly, Dr Donald Manyala, also paid glowing tribute to the fallen employee, describing him as hardworking, dependable, and passionate about serving the public.
Beyond his office duties, Mulama was well known for his love of sports. He was an active member of the County Assembly’s Tug-of-War team and was admired for his teamwork and determination.
In recognition of his contribution to sports, Assembly staff and MCAs organised a friendly tug-of-war match in his honour, celebrating the role he played both in the workplace and on the sporting field.
A funeral mass service was also held at the Assembly precincts, where colleagues gathered to mourn the loss of a man many described as a friend, mentor, and dedicated public servant.

As family, friends, and colleagues prepare to bid their final farewell, the burial of Mulama and his wife together is expected to be a deeply emotional occasion, marking the end of a life remembered for service, dedication, and community spirit.
As earlier reported, Mulama was first killed by the electric shock, prompting his wife to rush in and try to save him.
Sadly, she was also struck by electricity and died at the scene, leaving relatives and neighbours devastated.
