Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has expressed frustration over what he described as a lack of cooperation from the state’s Commissioner of Police amid ongoing security concerns.
Speaking on the situation, the governor said he was disappointed by the attitude of the police commissioner and questioned the reason for the alleged lack of collaboration with the state government.
“I’m very sad. The Commissioner of Police in Osun State is not cooperating. I don’t know what his problem is,” Adeleke said.
The governor’s remarks come at a time of heightened political tension and growing concerns over security in parts of the state. His comments have sparked debate online, with many Nigerians discussing the relationship between state governments and federal security agencies.
Several social media users argued that the situation highlights the need for state police, while others suggested that the governor should formally escalate his concerns to the Inspector-General of Police.
The development has also reignited conversations about the constitutional role of governors as chief security officers of their states and the extent of their authority over federal security agencies operating within their jurisdictions.
