A Nigerian man living in the United States has shared a story about his 22-year marriage, revealing how his friends once questioned his decision to marry a lawyer instead of a nurse.
According to the man, when he moved to the US 22 years ago, he was already married to a lawyer who was pregnant with his child.
He recalled that some of his friends believed he had made the wrong choice and advised him to marry a nurse instead, partly because of the profession’s earning potential.
“22 years ago When I came to the US, I was married to a lawyer & she was pregnant for me & my friends were saying why did I marry a lawyer that I’ve made a big mistake I should have married a nurse, last week I called all my friends to check up on their families & they’ve all divorced the nurses they married cuz I know the nurses work the most & get paid more,” he said.
His story has sparked debate online, with Nigerians discussing the role of professions, finances, compatibility and individual character in marriage.
