Tinubu Approves Military Battalions for Kishi, Iseyin to Strengthen Security in Oke-Ogun

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of military battalions in Kishi and Iseyin, Oyo State, in a move aimed at strengthening security operations and addressing growing security concerns across the Oke-Ogun region.

The approval was disclosed by the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General A.B. Mahmuda, during a courtesy visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, on October 1, Nigeria’s Independence Day.

The proposed military formations are expected to enhance the security architecture of Oke-Ogun, improve military response to emerging threats and reinforce the presence of security personnel in the area.

The development comes against the backdrop of longstanding security challenges in parts of Oyo State, particularly concerns over insecurity, criminal activities and threats to communities across the Oke-Ogun axis.

The approval is also expected to address repeated calls by residents and stakeholders for increased security deployment to protect lives, property, farmlands and commercial activities in the region.

However, details regarding the commencement of operations, deployment strength and timeline for the establishment of the battalions were not immediately disclosed.
