Tinubu, Fubara Meet Behind Closed Doors In Aso Villa After Lifting Of Rivers Emergency Rule

President Bola Tinubu is currently in a closed-door meeting with Rivers State governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Fubara, dressed in a white caftan and black cap, arrived at the State House around 6:20 p.m. on Monday. This marks his first official engagement with the President since his six-month suspension from office and the subsequent lifting of the state of emergency in Rivers on September 18, 2025.

It will be recalled that Tinubu, in a national broadcast on March 18, declared a state of emergency in Rivers State, suspended the democratic structures, and appointed Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) as sole administrator to oversee the state’s affairs.

As of press time, the agenda of the meeting between the President and the governor had not been disclosed.

Fubara’s visit came shortly after Tinubu held separate meetings with key political and economic figures, including Chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum and Kwara State governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq; Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Imo State governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Executive Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji; and Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, among others.
