President Bola Tinubu has left Paris, France, for Lagos, where he is expected to begin a series of political engagements before returning to Abuja.
The presidency announced on Tuesday that the President’s aircraft is expected to land at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later in the day.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ended his working vacation and has already departed Paris, France, for the homeward journey to Nigeria.
“President Tinubu’s aircraft is expected to touch down at Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos, later this evening,” the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said.
Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for a working vacation, spending about a week in London before travelling to Paris.
According to Onanuga, the President will remain in Lagos for several days, where he is expected to meet political leaders and associates as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather pace.
His first public engagement in Lagos is expected on October 1, when he will attend the premiere of a film on the late Chief MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12, 1993 presidential election, at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu.
“The Nigerian leader chose to fly to Lagos first to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, the martyr of Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
“On Independence Day, the President will attend the premiere of a movie honouring Abiola, the winner of the June 1993 election, at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos,” Onanuga said.
During his stay in Paris, Tinubu attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and met businessman Femi Otedola.
He is expected to return to Abuja after his engagements in Lagos.
