President Bola Tinubu on Thursday reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling the promises of his administration, declaring that he would not betray the trust Nigerians reposed in him and insisting that his government’s economic reforms would ultimately deliver prosperity despite the current hardships.
The President also urged his supporters to intensify grassroots mobilisation by taking the Renewed Hope agenda to communities across the country, saying sustained engagement with citizens remained critical to strengthening democracy.
Tinubu spoke in a message delivered on his behalf by the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, during the inauguration of the executives of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a political mobilisation group established to promote the administration’s programmes nationwide.
Addressing party supporters, traditional rulers, civil society organisations and other stakeholders, the President acknowledged that Nigerians had made significant sacrifices since the commencement of his administration’s reforms but maintained that the measures were necessary to secure the country’s long-term economic future.
“I am determined never to betray the trust reposed in me by Nigerians and the vision of ensuring a better Nigeria,” Tinubu said.
According to him, the reforms being implemented are designed to create a stronger economy that future generations will benefit from.
“The purpose of reforms is not to make life difficult for citizens but to lay the foundation that future generations can build on. Lasting progress is rarely achieved without enduring sacrifice,” he stated.
Tinubu said democracy thrives on continuous interaction between leaders and the people, urging members of the movement to engage Nigerians at the grassroots and enlighten them on government policies and programmes.
“Go to every door and explain the dividends of good governance. That is how democracy endures,” he said.
The President also stressed the need for national unity, warning against allowing political differences to divide Nigerians.
“Politics should never divide us as Nigerians. Our nation is greater than any political party, office holder or election,” he added.
Tinubu further argued that effective governance requires collaboration among the executive, legislature and citizens, noting that sustainable development could only be achieved through collective effort.
He commended the Grand Patron of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, for initiating the grassroots mobilisation campaign.
“I commend High Chief Government Ekpemupolo and his team for putting this together. We are united whenever the nation calls,” the President said.
Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Tinubu maintained that reforms implemented over the past three years had begun positioning the country for sustained economic growth.
“In three years, we have embarked on various reforms to grow our economy and make life brighter for Nigerians. The future is indeed brighter,” he added.
Earlier, the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, Kestin Pondi, who represented Tompolo at the event, described the inauguration as the beginning of a nationwide citizens’ mobilisation campaign in support of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda.
Pondi said the large turnout of political leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, women organisations, civil society groups and other stakeholders reflected growing support for the President’s vision of national development.
He described Tinubu as a courageous leader whose reform agenda had demonstrated uncommon resolve, expressing confidence that the administration’s policies would ultimately reposition the country for sustainable growth.
He urged members of the movement to remain peaceful, disciplined and committed to promoting national unity while mobilising support for the government’s programmes across the country.
