….APC Stakeholders Rally Behind President As Re-election Campaign Begins

President Bola Tinubu has formally kicked off his re-election campaign for the 2027 presidential election after submitting his All Progressives Congress nomination forms and retaining Vice-President Kashim Shettima as his running mate.
The development ended weeks of speculation over the composition of the APC presidential ticket ahead of the next general election.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Ibrahim Masari, submitted the nomination forms on behalf of the President and Shettima during a ceremony held on Friday at the Continental Hotel, Abuja.
The submission officially confirms that Tinubu has again chosen Shettima as his running mate as the ruling APC prepares for the 2027 presidential contest.
The event attracted top figures of the party, including governors elected on the APC platform, members of the National Working Committee, federal lawmakers, members of the Federal Executive Council and other party stakeholders.
Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, who is also the Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, led the APC governors to the event.
Masari, who addressed party leaders after submitting the forms, said the move marked the formal commencement of Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office.
Tinubu had initially nominated Masari as a placeholder vice-presidential candidate in June 2022 while consultations on the party’s running mate were ongoing.
The President later replaced Masari with Shettima, the immediate past governor of Borno State, who subsequently emerged as the APC vice-presidential candidate for the 2023 election.
By retaining Shettima, Tinubu has maintained the same Muslim-Muslim ticket that secured victory for the APC in the 2023 presidential election.
