Former Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, Professor Chidi Odinkalu, has criticised President Bola Tinubu and the Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani over security arrangements for their billboards amid persistent insecurity in the state.
Odinkalu accused the governments of Tinubu and Sani of failing to devote sufficient attention to protecting residents of Kaduna State.
The human rights lawyer made the remarks in a post on his X account on Friday.
“If the govt of @officialABAT & @ubasanius spent as much energy over the past 3 & a half yrs protecting the people of Kaduna State as they have spent in the past 3 & a half days to protect the billboards of both men, they’d have saved a lot of money on accomplishing the latter,” he wrote.
Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, questioned the government’s priorities, arguing that the protection given to the billboards contrasted with the insecurity faced by residents.
“Bola, you claim Nigerians love you, yet your billboards in Kaduna require security guards. Bandits raid villages, terrorists attack communities, and families live in fear,” Atiku wrote.
