Tinubu Swears In New Ministers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday, June 8, 2026, swore in two new ministers into his cabinet.

Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe was sworn in as Minister of Power, while Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye took the oath as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at a brief ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The swearing-in followed the resignations of former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, and former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, who stepped down to pursue other political interests.

President Tinubu had earlier nominated the two appointees, who were screened and confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on Wednesday, May 6, 2026.

In a statement, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, described the new Minister of Power, Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, as a renowned fiscal, economic, and institutional reform strategist with expertise in stakeholder engagement.

Born in Ibadan, Oyo State, Tegbe holds a First Class degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University.

He also earned a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Switzerland and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom.

With over 35 years of experience across the public and private sectors, Tegbe served as Senior Partner and Head of Advisory Services at KPMG in Africa. He led major transformational initiatives, including the design and implementation of presidential reforms and strategies for subnational governments. He has also been involved in fiscal policy restructuring at federal, state, and local levels.

Tegbe has worked with several organisations, including the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc (NBET), Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Shell, Huawei, General Electric, MTN, and the Odu’a Group.

Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, who hails from Igbagun in Kogi State, holds a First Class degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he won the Dean’s Prize as the best student in his faculty. He also obtained a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy with Distinction from the University of Lagos.
