President Bola Tinubu is set to depart Abuja on Saturday, May 2, for a three-nation diplomatic trip covering France, Kenya, and Rwanda.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, the president will begin his trip in France before heading to Nairobi, where he will take part in the Africa-France Summit scheduled for May 11 to 12. The summit, co-chaired by Emmanuel Macron and William Ruto, will address issues such as energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, climate action, and reforms to global financing systems.
Tinubu’s participation is expected to strengthen Nigeria’s ties with both African nations and France, while reinforcing the country’s commitment to strategic partnerships. The summit, themed “Africa Forward: Africa-France Partnerships for Innovation and Growth,” will bring together leaders to discuss economic transformation, infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and peace-building.
Following the Kenya engagement, the president will proceed to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the Africa CEO Forum from May 14 to 15. The forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is expected to attract over 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers focused on boosting Africa’s economic growth through regional integration and cross-border investments. The event is organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation.
During both events, Tinubu is expected to showcase his administration’s economic reform agenda aimed at attracting investment into Nigeria. He will also hold high-level meetings with African and global business leaders.
The president will travel with selected ministers and senior aides and is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Rwanda.
