President Bola Tinubu has extended his heartfelt greetings to Muslims in Nigeria and around the world as they celebrate the Islamic New Year (1 Muharram 1448AH) on June 16, 2026.
Hijrah marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar.
Tinubu noted that the values embodied in Hijrah, including sacrifice, perseverance, renewal, and trust in Allah’s guidance, remain vital for fostering a peaceful, equitable, and prosperous society.
The president urged Nigerians, especially members of the Muslim Ummah, to embrace the spirit of the new year by recommitting themselves to the principles of responsible citizenship.
He described kindness, tolerance, integrity, and dedication as essential ingredients for strengthening national unity, enhancing security, and advancing development.
The president also prayed for Allah’s blessings upon all households in the new Islamic year and expressed hope for continued peace, prosperity, and progress across the nation.
