Tinubu vows to resist opponents in 2027 presidential race :

President Bola Tinubu has declared that he will not give political opponents a free path in the 2027 presidential election, saying he is prepared to contest “to the finishing point.”

Tinubu spoke on Tuesday while receiving members of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The President also defended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), insisting the electoral body remained neutral and had not intimidated any political party or candidate.

He said his administration’s economic reforms were beginning to yield results, citing the uninterrupted academic calendar in public universities as evidence of progress.

According to Tinubu, the absence of strikes by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has ensured that students now complete their programmes within the stipulated period.

On the return of mission schools, the President said the responsibility rests with state governments, urging the bishops to engage governors on the matter.

He also called for national unity, saying Nigeria’s security and development challenges require collective efforts to build a stable and prosperous country.
