In other news… The author of a controversial nursery school textbook has spoken out after a young mother raised alarm over a disturbing story her five-year-old child was asked to read in school.

The issue earlier went viral after the mother publicly questioned the content of the book, saying a section of the story was inappropriate for children and could negatively shape their understanding at such a young age. She also alleged that she had received threats following her complaint.

Reacting to the criticism, the author defended his work and faulted the woman for taking the matter to social media instead of contacting him directly.

“I’m not a social media type. The lady didn’t buy the book on social media. My number and address are on the book; she couldn’t reach me through any of those means, but she chose to go to social media to discredit my work and my book.”

He further dismissed the criticism, suggesting the mother was too young to understand his long history in education.

“She’s too small for me to explain to she was not born when I started teaching. However, there is nothing wrong with my book story.”

The statement has since generated fresh reactions online, with many Nigerians criticizing both the controversial passage and the author’s response.
