Top Nigerian Singer Detained For Defaming Taye Currency

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested singer Rolex Dee over allegations of defamation and online harassment involving fellow artiste Taye Currency.

The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the arrest, dismissing viral claims that the singer was unlawfully detained, warning that such reports could mislead the public.

According to the police, the action followed a formal complaint filed by Ibadan-based musician Taye Currency, who accused Rolex Dee of damaging his reputation, engaging in cyberbullying, and issuing threats across multiple social media platforms.

Reports says that security operatives disclosed that Rolex Dee was later traced to Lagos, where he was arrested.

The development comes after an interview he granted on the Agbaletu programme, which spread widely online and drew public attention.

Authorities explained that the statements made during the programme were considered harmful and increased the impact of the alleged actions, leading to further steps by the police.

The Police said: “The news is unverified reports capable of misleading the public.

“The suspect was alleged to have made defamatory utterances during a public programme known as Agbaletu, which subsequently gained widespread circulation online, thereby aggravating the impact of the alleged misconduct.”
