Tragedy at Fajuyi: Woman Battles for Life After Reckless Okada Rider Collides with Taxi

A devastating accident at the busy Fajuyi area earlier today has left a female passenger fighting for her life after a commercial motorcycle rider allegedly violated traffic rules and crashed into a taxi.

Eyewitness accounts reveal that the rider was conveying a woman and her young child, reportedly coming from the Okesha axis. In a bid to beat traffic at the roundabout leading toward Twins Pharmacy Road, the rider allegedly sped into the intersection, ignoring traffic signals.

The reckless move proved costly, as a taxi approaching from the Adebayo axis—reportedly cleared by the traffic light—rammed into the motorcycle with significant force.

Disturbing visuals shared online captured the aftermath, showing the injured woman and her child being rushed to the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention. Another image circulating on social media depicted the woman sprawled on the road, bleeding heavily, an indication of the severe trauma sustained in the crash.

An eyewitness, who preferred to remain anonymous, described the chaotic scene that followed the collision.

“The sound of the crash drew everyone—drivers, traders, passersby. It was a horrifying sight. Honestly, only God can save that woman considering the amount of blood she lost,” the witness said.

In what many have described as miraculous, the young child strapped to the woman’s back reportedly escaped the incident without serious injuries.

As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official confirmation regarding the condition of the woman or the motorcycle rider.

Traffic officials and security operatives later arrived at the scene to manage the situation, evacuate the injured victims, and clear the wreckage to restore normal traffic flow.

Authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, as concerns grow over the recurring menace of traffic violations among commercial motorcycle operators.
