Troops of the 17 Brigade have arrested a suspected bandit during a routine operational movement in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, identified as Lawal Sani, was apprehended at about 3:14 p.m. on July 15 while troops were returning from an operation in Bakori and observed a halt at Yantumaki.
Sources said a search of the suspect’s mobile phone allegedly revealed a video showing him carrying an AK-47 rifle.
Upon the discovery, the suspect reportedly attempted to flee but was quickly subdued and arrested by the troops.
Items recovered from the suspect included one motorcycle, an Infinix mobile phone, a Tecno mobile phone, a coloured photocopy of a National Identity Card, a Moniepoint ATM card, one MTN SIM card, and ₦5,020 in cash.
The suspect remains in military custody for further investigation and possible prosecution.
